Advanced Paddling and Recovery

Advanced Paddling is a class designed as an immediate follow on to the Paddling Basics course.

In this all day class we will show how to load and tie down your boat. We’ll cover those skills needed for safely lifting carrying and launching the boat, getting in from the shore or dock, we will go over the forward paddle stroke again and then jump right into reverse figure eights, low brace and high brace turns, bow rudders, sculling draws, draw on the move, hanging draws, sculling for support, low and high recovery and linking strokes, extended paddle work, returning to shore or dock and getting out.

In addition we will cover capsize recoveries, discuss rescue  equipment, first aid and the environment, access, boat design and purpose. This class has been designed by a British Canoe Union (BCU) Coach and in combination with our Paddling Basics and class will give you the tools to complete a BCU 2 Star assessment.

You bring: Comfortable clothing suitable for wet conditions, water shoes (preferably without laces), towel, change of clothes, lunch, snack and water for a day.

No cotton clothing please!
